Do you want your teachers to say ‘Fantastic’, ‘It made everyone feel really special‘, ‘It helped the boys show what they could do without being limited by language’, ‘They felt trusted‘?
These are a few of the quotes that Sue Johnson, from the Institute of Education at London University, recorded in her interviews with teachers and students who used OOKL to study botany at Kew.
OOKL puts your students at the centre of the learning experience and allows them to use all of their skills to learn from each other and the world around them. Sue explains how OOKL supports learning:
- It reduces frustration by allowing each student to access learning in their own way; writing often acts as a stumbling block to learning, so OOKL’s audio recording and photography tools provide alternative ways for students to access ideas.
- It prompts recall, a significant element in the learning process.
- It helps students get to grips with complex subjects. One teacher was surprised when she looked at their presentations to see that they had all concentrated on the plants rather than just taking pictures of each other.
